Regulator Stops Paxos From Issuing Binance Stablecoin

Just as the crypto market starts looking hot, things turn for the worse. This time, Binance is bearing the brunt, as New York regulators order the crypto exchange's stablecoin issuer, Paxos, to stop offering the token.

Consequently, arguments arise over "stablecoins being securities":

Here's What We Know:

• Due to safety concerns, the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) orders a halt to Binance's stablecoin.

• NYDFS issued warning orders to stop Binance USD due to problems in Paxos Trust Company's oversight of its relationship with Binance.

• Paxos failed to assess risk and screen Binance/Binance USD customers, allowing "bad actors" to use the platform.

• As a result, Paxos is to halt the issuance of Binance USD, support & redeem tokens until 2024.

• NYDFS setback for Binance vs. larger stablecoin rivals will likely harm appeal to investors, therefore, the crypto and NFT industry.

Europe's Premier Art Museum, Centre Pompidou, announces hosting a groundbreaking NFT exhibition featuring CryptoPunks and Autoglyphs.

Here's What We Know:

• Displaying works from 16 renowned digital artists worldwide, the exhibit will delve into the intersection of art and blockchain technology.

• This is the first time Centre Pompidou has accepted NFTs in its art collection.

• The museum is most famous for showcasing works of artists such as Frida Kahlo, Vassily Kandinsky, and Henri Matisse.

• Now, NFT artists Jonas Lund, Rafael Rozendaal, and Jill Magid — alongside CryptoPunks and Autoglyphs — will also be part of the NFT exhibition this Spring.

NFT Exchange Hadeswap Acquires Solana Monkey Business

The property rights of Solana Monkey Business (SMB) — one of the earliest and most precious NFT projects on the Solana blockchain — is switching to Hadeswap's hands.

Here's What We Know:

• Hadeswap is a unique marketplace that uses an automated market maker and trading pools rather than traditional item listings.

• The marketplace recently purchased the rights to Solana Monkey Business from its original creators and planned to support the significant project better.

• Moreover, Hadeswap says it intends to "respect the legacy" of Solana Monkey Business" while "bridging the gaps on its shortcomings" and making the project more accessible to a larger audience.
