Nike Teases NFT-Infused Sneaker Hunt on Fortnite

Nike took to Twitter to tease about kick-starting an ‘Sneakerhunt’ otherwise known as ‘‘Airphoria’ on Fortnite starting June 20.

• Powered by Nike’s .SWOOSH Web3 platform, the hunt integrates blockchain technology to likely include NFTs and other digital assets within the gaming environment.

• The integration with Unreal Engine, best known for its cutting-edge graphics, hints that participants can expect an immersive and visually stunning gaming experience during the event.

• The in-game assets are poised to gain significant mainstream attention thanks to Nike's involvement.

• This announcement follows Nike's earlier Web3 integration with EA Sports, indicating a trend of notable players venturing into the blockchain realm.

Bitcoin Bandits Burn $95K CryptoPunk for Blockchain Switch

Wolf Capital’s Natan Stein and the Bitcoin Bandits community innovatively transferred CryptoPunk #8611 from its original Ethereum network to the Bitcoin network, demonstrating the potential for assets to traverse chains.

• Bitcoin Bandits members acquired CryptoPunk #8611 for $95k (55 ETH) and removed the asset from circulation on the Ethereum blockchain, sending it to a burn address containing $21 million worth of ETH.

• The venture involved Stein assisting in digitally transforming the Punk and inscribing it into BTC, with the process funded via a crowdfunding round.

• Post-migration, the owners will work toward creating a series of Ordinals inscriptions, each signifying fractional ownership of the NFT, further showcasing the versatility of digital asset ownership.

• This daring move presents potential synergy between conventionally segmented blockchain communities, hinting at a future where Ethereum's NFT innovation and Bitcoin's foundational potential can help one another.

New NFT Protocol ‘Ethscriptions’ Goes Live, Hits 30K+ Mints

Ethscriptions, a novel digital asset and NFT protocol inspired by Bitcoin Ordinals with an Ethereum twist, debuted with a bang — nearly 30,000 assets were grabbed within just 18 hours.

• Launched on June 17, Ethscriptions offers an alternative method for creating NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.

• Tom Lehman developed Ethscriptions, utilizing Ethereum's 'calldata' for a more cost-effective and decentralized asset-minting process.

• The first project on Ethscriptions, 'Ethereum Punks', was almost an instant sell-out.

• Following the success, almost 30,000 Ethscriptions were sold in just 18 hours, despite the assets supporting only image-based content.

• It remains to be seen if Ethscriptions can achieve the same level of popularity as Bitcoin Ordinals in the digital asset space, but time will tell!
