Thailand Boosts Tourism with NFTs
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is using NFTs to bring people into the tropics from around the globe.
Here's what we know:
Thailand tourists can win 'Amazing Thailand NFTs' at five major cultural landmarks.
Each location - China Town, Siam Square, the Ancient City, Samut Prakan and Wat Arun - will have 3,999 findable digital collectibles via QR codes claimable on the YAKs app.
The NFTs include discounts and free experiences, to encourage more tourists to Thailand, despite already being a tourism hub.
The NFTs were launched on November 15, 2022, and will be up for grabs until December 14, 2022.
These digital assets sound like a good excuse to go grab some winter sun.
Mattel Launches NFT Marketplace
Mattel is building in-class digital experiences "that pioneer the future of play and create stronger community relationships" by launching its first-ever NFT marketplace.
Here's what we know:
Mattel's new NFT marketplace is dubbed Mattel Creations and will launch on the Flow blockchain this week.
Here, fans can purchase digital art linked to numerous classic products.
The toy manufacturer's inaugural collection will feature the brand's Hot Wheels NFT Garage Series following recent success.
The marketplace is a great way to bring people from outside the crypto community into the world of Web3.
Sorare Is 'No Longer a Gambling Platform'
NFT trading card game platform, Sorare, received a regulatory green flag - no longer being classified as a gambling platform - ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Here's what we know:
Sorare was in dispute with the French National Gambling Authority, which said that the NFT fantasy game should classify as gambling.
However, the players always keep their NFT cards. Therefore, Sorare disagreed that it is such a platform.
Sorare said it would strengthen free-to-play access to Web3 tournaments to soothe gambling concerns.
To skip facing regulatory penalties, the gaming platform has until March 31 to make it a free-to-play service.
Lionel Messi recently became an ambassador for the platform.
Givenchy Partners with Bstroy to Launch NFTs
Givenchy is partnering with streetwear brand, Bstroy, to launch a series of NFTs that open up the opportunity to win designer goods.
Here's what we know:
This fashion collaboration features a series of physical goods backed by utility-enabled NFTs, 'Phygital'.
To acquire a Phygital, collectors must purchase a physical piece of clothing from Givenchy stores in the Spring/Summer next year.
Each in-store buyer will receive an NFT, opening up the chance to win 1 out of 360 clothing pieces in six designs and other limited-edition benefits.
It's time to get saving for next year's splurge.
