Darewise’s ‘Life Beyond’ Bitcoin Metaverse Vision Raises $3.5M

Darewise Entertainment, the developer of ‘Life Beyond’, raised a hefty $3.5 million in token pre-sales for its metaverse project, backed by Gamefi Ventures and Animoca Ventures.

  • ‘Life Beyond’ is an open-world sci-fi game focused on building a new civilization powered by NFTs and a tokenized digital economy.

  • The Darewise token, set to launch in early next year, was developed in collaboration with Horizon Labs, known for the Ethereum-based ApeCoin (APE) token.

  • Darewise Entertainment, established in 2018, aims to create its metaverse ecosystem around Bitcoin Ordinals, allowing users to record digital assets on the Bitcoin blockchain, including images, text, and video games.

  • Investors in the token sale include Gamefi Ventures, London Real Ventures, Citizen Capital, Blocore, and Animoca Ventures, demonstrating confidence in building on the Bitcoin ecosystem for the metaverse.

Yuga Labs Reveals Sharpening Focus on the Otherside Metaverse

Yuga Labs, behind BAYC, has completed a restructuring aimed at addressing industry challenges and focusing on its metaverse project, Otherside.

  • CEO Daniel Alegre recognizes the technical and creative difficulties involved in building an immersive metaverse platform, highlighting Otherside's significance in Yuga's vision.

  • Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano previously announced restructuring efforts on October 6, aiming for long-term success, without specifying the number of affected employees.

  • During the restructuring, Yuga Labs prioritized treating departing employees respectfully, offering generous severance packages, COBRA coverage, and job search assistance.

  • Yuga Labs is also reviewing the impact on international teams as it adapts to evolving industry challenges and changes to enhance its metaverse vision.

    The Sandbox Welcomes Ex-PlayStation Executive as CCO

    The Sandbox has appointed game industry veteran Nicola Sebastiani as its chief content officer to drive its creator economy.

  • Sebastiani brings extensive experience from Ubisoft, Apple (co-founding Apple Arcade), and PlayStation to lead The Sandbox's Web3 initiatives.

  • He believes that user-generated content will play a significant role in gaming's future and views The Sandbox as a social platform.

  • The new CCO will oversee game publishing, internal game production, and the development of The Sandbox's tools Game Maker and VoxEdit.

  • Already, the Sandbox enables users to connect crypto wallets, use SAND tokens for in-game items, and own virtual land NFTs.

  • Now, the metaverse plans to enable users to build and self-publish their experiences by the end of the year.
