NFTs Surge with $945M in January Sales

The NFT market is booming with $945M in January sales, up 42% from December 2022 – and sales continue to rise! This is terrific news for traders and collectors after last year's continuous bear market.

Here's What We Know: 

• Data from DappRadar shows that NFT January sales are the highest since before the bear market hit in June 2022.

• The report indicates that NFT trading volume has increased by 42% in one month.

• Most NFTs are acquired from the Ethereum blockchain (as usual). However, Polygon and Solana are just a little behind.

• Polygon alone reported a 124% increase in NFT trading volume last month.

Yuga Labs Clarifies NFT Copyright Concerns

Being the hub of one of the most renowned NFT projects to date – Bored Ape Yacht Club –  it's no wonder there is curiosity around Yuga Labs' IP rights. 

As more NFT holders commercialize their digital assets, more debates arise. So, FYI, Yuga Labs contacted IP lawyer, Jeremy Goldman, to clear the air. 

Here's What We Know: 

• Goldman explains that the company retains copyright to all of its NFTs "regardless of whether they went through the administrative slog of registration."

• However, when collectors buy Yuga Labs-owned NFTs, they receive legal ownership of the asset.

• The legal ownership gives the collector the right to exploit its commercial license.

• However, the ownership does not provide collectors the right to copyright.

Takashi Murakami x Hublot: Art Meets Luxury NFT Collection

NFT collectors can now watch out for a new fusion of luxury and art, thanks to digital assets created by Takashi Murakami x Hublot. 

Here's What We Know: 

• These new collectibles will showcase at the "Jewellery Geneva" trade show, featuring 12 state-of-the-art NFTs.

• Each NFTs link to a physical watch. However, only previous collectors of Takashi Murakami NFTs can directly purchase one.

• Not a former collector? Fear not – the NFTs/watches will be purchasable on OpenSea until April 2024.

• The collector to acquire all 12 NFTs will also have the chance to purchase the limited-edition " Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow" watch.
