Formula 1 Races Ahead with NFT Ticketing Initiative

Platinum Group is racing ahead of conventional ticketing services by issuing Formula 1 tickets as NFTs for the next 16 races, starting with the Monaco Grand Prix event.

  • The Polygon NFT tickets grant entry to F1 races and provide ongoing benefits like future race discounts, hospitality privileges and more, to incentivize long-term brand loyalty.

  • To purchase Formula 1 NFT tickets, users do not need any Web3 knowledge due to the process being streamlined on the main website. Instead, the aim is to familiarize users with the perks of this novel ticketing approach and enhance the F1 experience.

  • More entertainment and sports companies use blockchain technology for event ticketing due to providing traceability, transparency, personalization, engagement and digital ease.

  • Certain holders of the Monaco Grand Prix NFT tickets may also receive entry to an exclusive party after the grand racing event.

Nike's .SWOOSH Kick Starts NFT Sneaker Sale, Makes $1M

Nike's .SWOOSH Web3 platform debuted its first NFT sneaker collection, grossing over $1 million in sales, despite several technical issues and delays.

  • The initial "First Access" sale began on May 15, a week after the initially planned date, catering to select users who received airdropped "posters" as early access tickets.

  • The "General Access" sale, designed to sell the remaining NFTs from the total inventory, started two weeks after the proposed date on May 24. Over 66,000 NFTs have been sold so far, bringing in about $1.3 million for Nike.

  • Technical glitches and significant delays have marred the launch, with the website frequently crashing during sales and many buyers being charged without receiving their NFTs.

  • Despite the issues, Nike's move into the NFT space is consistent with their broader Web3 strategy, as shown by their previous acquisition of digital fashion startup RTFKT Studios, which had successful NFT launches.

Epic Games Adds 20 New NFT Games to Its Store

Epic Games, the company behind hit games like Fortnite and Rocket League, plans to add twenty new NFT-based games to its digital storefront.

  • The first NFT game out of the upcoming twenty on Epic Games Store is Project Red, a mafia-themed first-person shooter.

  • Another game in the lineup, Defimons, is a multiplayer adventure title featuring strategic turn-based battles, mini-games, and RPG elements.

  • Integrating NFTs in games allows for representing unique digital assets, such as characters, weapons, and skins, that players can own, trade, or sell.

  • Epic Games's foray into the world of blockchain and NFTs highlights the potential of these technologies in enhancing security and transparency and offering novel gaming experiences.
