Blur User Loses $240K in BAYC, Beanz and Elementals NFTs
In less favorable news, a user recently lost around $240K in NFTs due to a sophisticated phishing scam on the Blur marketplace, involving Bored Ape Yacht Club, Beanz, and Elementals NFTs.
A user lost $240K in NFTs on the Blur marketplace due to a phishing scam. The stolen items included six Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, 40 Beanz, and three Elementals. The scam exploited a loophole in Blur’s listing system, enabling private sales. The total loss was roughly $239,676.

A scammer exploited a loophole allowing private sales on Blur—a platform that typically does not support such listings—by altering royalty settings to bypass public sale requirements.
To ensure the scam's success, the hacker set rules that canceled transactions if anyone other than them tried to buy the listed NFTs, making these transactions effectively private and unchallengeable.
The victim was tricked into signing a fraudulent action on a phishing site, likely reached through a fake Twitter account offering deceptive incentives like free mints or airdrop verifications.
