Helium Migrates to Solana, Mints 1M NFTs

Helium's crypto-powered wireless network triumphantly completed its expected transition from its native layer-1 blockchain to Solana. Subsequently, minting around 1 million NFTs. 

Here's What We Know: 

• Helium successfully migrates from its blockchain platform to Solana — unlocking additional use cases around the network.

• As part of the migration process, over 991,000 Solana NFTs are minting to represent each physical hotspot node running on the Helium network.

• Minting the NFTs is ongoing and is the most prominent test case for Solana's new state compression feature.

• Minting 1 million NFTs on Solana costs around $113 worth of SOL, significantly lower than other blockchains like Ethereum and Polygon. 

• The Solana NFTs work as a network credential to authenticate the hotspot and enable ecosystem-wide integrations. This includes token-gated benefits and access for hotspot owners.

Solana Now Tracks Network Carbon Emissions Data in Real-Time

The popular blockchain for NFTs, Solana, announces that it now measures and tracks the carbon emissions data of its network in real-time.

• Solana now tracks its carbon emissions in real-time, a pioneering move among major smart contract blockchain networks.

• A dashboard, updated every two weeks, showcases key Solana environmental metrics, including energy consumption and carbon footprint.

• The emissions tracker, created in partnership with Trycarbonara, offers precise measurements using on-chain data and Solana validator samples.

• The environmental impact of blockchain networks has been a pressing concern due to their high energy consumption.

• Emissions from the software and computer sector, with a significant contribution from crypto-related activities, are almost double those of the aviation industry.

Floor App Adds Solana NFTs Amid Rapid Growth of Mad Lads NFTs

Floor is adding support for Solana NFTs May 8, introducing this feature shortly after Solana's hottest mint in recent months, Mad Lads. 

Here's What We Know: 

• Floor, a mobile NFT portfolio tracking app, now supports Solana and Ethereum NFTs, expanding its compatibility within the NFT ecosystem.

• Solana projects like Claynosaurz, Solana Monkey Business, and Okay Bears are now trackable using the Floor app on iOS and Android devices.

• The Solana Foundation assisted in Floor's expansion, with Floor CEO Chris Maddern hinting at future collaborations to make NFT data more accessible for developers and users.

• Maddern believes Solana is well-positioned for large-scale adoption of NFTs in areas like gaming and credentialing and sees it playing a significant role in onboarding users to new NFT use cases.

• The recent successful launch of Mad Lads, a Solana NFT project, has bolstered the Solana NFT market, with over $10 million in secondary trading volume, surpassing all Ethereum projects in 24-hour trading volume.
