Walmart Enters the Metaverse with Roblox Experiences

The retail giant Walmart revealed on Monday that it is soon launching two immersive online experiences with Roblox - a metaverse platform most favored by youngsters.

Here's what we know:

  • Stranger Things star, Noah Schnapp, will be featured in the first experience dubbed 'Walmart Land', alongside famous artists hosting a virtual dressing room and a music festival.

  • The second experience, 'Walmart Universe of Play', will include immersive games featuring characters from popular toy brands, including L.O.L Surprise! and Paw Patrol.

  • Walmart hopes the platform will be a "multi-purpose platform, similar to how social networks were viewed as they grew beyond their core university student demographic."

What we think:

It's good to see Walmart opening its door for new, immersive experiences on the blockchain instead of the same old shoppers. This move to the metaverse marks as being another step in Walmart's effort to become a digital brand. Meanwhile, focusing on bringing out everyone's inner child. Exciting times ahead!

Gemini to Launch Ethereum Staking

Following Ethereum's merge from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake, Gemini is planning to launch Ethereum staking on its platform on September 29.

Here's what we know:

  • Users who start ETH staking on the exchange between September 29 and the end of October will enjoy zero-fee staking.

  • Ethereum staking on the platform during the initial period will only be available to users in select regions.

  • 150,000 ETH was deposited following the merge.

  • Currently, ETH is valued at around $1,324, with a 24-hour increase of 1.3%.

What we think:

This is great news! Gemini launching Ethereum staking means that users can seamlessly receive rewards in their Gemini accounts. It looks like the blockchain network is on a mission to unlock the next era of financial, creative, and personal freedom.

Funko to Launch Game of Thrones Digital Pop! NFTs

On October 4, Funko is adding Game of Thrones to its collection of Digital Pop! NFTs.

Here's what we know:

  • The drop will include Game of Thrones characters, like Arya Stark, The Hound, Jon Snow and Jaime Lannister.

  • Each Digital Pop! can be redeemed for a matching limited-edition physical collectible.
