Ordinals’ Non-Profit Institute to Advance the Bitcoin Protocol

Bitcoin-based protocol Ordinals announces the formation of its nonprofit organization, the Open Ordinals Institute, amidst reaching the mighty milestone of 21m inscriptions.

  • Ordinals permit users to attach data to individual satoshis, tiny fractions of a Bitcoin, allowing for unique digital assets like artwork, profile images, and games.

  • The California-based Open Ordinals Institute aims to strengthen the Ordinals protocol development by funding the core developer group.

  • Unlike previous private funding classified as personal gifts, the Open Ordinals Institute, pending IRS approval, can accept tax-deductible donations, significantly impacting tax considerations.

  • The Ordinals team has also unveiled Ordinals.org, a platform to share updates and resources related to the project’s development, and as a testament to the non-profit approach’s scalability.

  • This milestone of 21m inscriptions matches the limited supply of Bitcoin, demonstrating its growing significance in the crypto community.
